Urban Mercy
Urban Mercy is a contemplative community of healing kinship for tired church drop-outs and compassionate advocates of justice who seek to notice and celebrate the beauty and abundance hidden in every corner of creation.
The contemplative Christian spirituality of Urban Mercy is meant to provide health and renewal for our Network staff and volunteers, as well as anyone desiring a safe, inclusive, and dialogical version of church. We long for a way of being which allows us to listen to the heartbeat of our neighbors, live generously and justly, and to provide a humble refuge for those who don’t seem to fit within the sometimes overwhelming production of institutional church.
Simply learning to be in healthy relationship with ourselves and others is what we’re after at Urban Mercy. We laugh a lot but also grieve together. We practice fierce compassion, but also seek deep rest. We’re learning to love others above ourselves. And we see we’ve got a lot of work to do in genuinely loving ourselves. If you’re interested in learning to live in these type of tensions, please email Ryan. We gather at various places and times ranging from under a wise oak to a virtual zoom room, so please give us a heads up if you’d like to join us!
